The new Spazio Antonioni is the permanent museum that brings to light part of the 47,000 objects (including documents, films, and more) that Ferrara director Michelangelo Antonioni donated to his hometown in the mid-1990s.
The collection unfolds chronologically, exploring the seasons of Antonioni’s cinema throughout the second half of the twentieth century, from the waning of neorealism to the so-called “trilogy of modernity,” from Anglo-American films witnessing the explosion of pop and hippy culture to a return to the origins and artistic tradition of Italy and Ferrara.
An exhibition aimed at highlighting the connections between the famous director and the visual arts opens in the new museum dedicated to Michelangelo Antonioni – Spazio Antonioni: the exhibition highlights the different artistic translation of the naturalistic canon proposed by Giorgio Morandi (Bologna, 1890-1964) and Cy Twombly (Lexington, 1928 – Rome, 2011)
