FERRARA AND THE OLYMPIC FLAME

MILAN-CORTINA 2026: ROUTE THROUGHOUT THE CITY ON 7 JANUARY 2026

Ferrara has in fact been included among the 60 Italian cities that will host the passage of the Olympic Flame, part of an epic route that will cross the entire peninsula in 63 days of walking, covering 12,000 kilometers and involving over 10,000 torchbearers.

The City Walls will ‘embrace’ the arrival in Ferrara of the Olympic Flame along its journey, which will start from Greece, drawing from the brazier of the epic Olympia, and will continue through Italy from 6 December to culminate with the opening of the twenty-fifth edition of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of Milan and Cortina 2026.

The spectacular event will unfold in the natural and architectural scenery that characterise Ferrara, from the Walls to the Addizione Erculea up to the most emblematic views of the historic centre. It will culminate in the Piazza with the iconic lighting of the brazier.

For this extraordinary occasion, some torchbearers representing the Ferrarese sporting world will be nominated in the coming months.
